Seldom Seen Beautifully Marbleized Green Catalin Air King
Ref: RA819
Regal Air King A-600 'Duchess' catalin radio in marbleized jade green with yellow trim, is a substantial radio with a unique design + construction. Designed in 1946, this radio is comprised of 3 separate catalin pieces setting it apart from other radios of the time. The green cabinet and the front of the cabinet consists of two colors, the green insert grille and the yellow surround, both cast separately which are fastened to the yellow cabinet. It is believed that the front surround + the large attached grill are among the largest cast catalin parts ever made. The beautifully marbleized jade green catalin cabinet is contrasted with the yellow trim. The green Catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of green, brown, yellow + clear that add depth to an already beautiful radio. The stately size of this radio, the color, and contrasting trim make for a stunning Art Deco radio.
Radio cabinet has been hand polished to an incredible gloss. This radio's beautiful catalin cabinet is in great original condition with no chips, tube burns, or repairs; however it does have a tight hairline by the bottom rear screw hole as seen in photo. The yellow catalin grill surround and catalin knobs are free of cracks, chips, or repairs. The plastic dial face is in great original condition wit only minimal signs of use + age. The masonite back is original to the radio and still retains the original manufacturers sticker.
Radio measures approximately: 13" wide by 8" high by 7" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
