Beautiful Art Deco Rohde Clock with Brass Trim + Exotic Wood Veneer
Beautiful Gilbert Rohde attributed Art Deco clock made for the Herman Miller Clock Company in Zeeland, Michigan. This model is pictured in their 1935 and 1937 catalogs and is shown as # 4717. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design. The case of Maple Burl + Macassar Ebony makes the clock stand out. The dial is silver plated with lithographed numbers. The bezel around the convex glass covering the face is brushed brass, as are the six ball feet. The condition of this clock can only be described as near mint. Wood case has been refinished and looks great with a beautiful lustre. Brass trim has been cleaned. The clock is fitted with the original manual starting electric movement with starter wheel that is in working condition at this time. Power cord has been replaced with a period correct replacement. This table clock measures approximately: 5.25" high by 7.75" wide by 2.0" deep. There is no guarantee of accuracy with it keeping time. Rare + Beautiful Gilbert Rohde Clock with Thermometer/Humidity Gauge
Rare Gilbert Rohde Art Deco clock from the series of clocks designed for Herman Miller with "Air-Guide" feature. The clock is Number 6381 in the Herman Miller company literature and was shown in the 1937 catalog. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including the brushed nickel plated face plate with the black footed case of Macassar Ebony, + three brushed metal speed-lines affixed to the top of clock. The brushed silver painted clock + "Air-Guide" thermometer/humidity faces have streamline numerals, red + black hands, and a red second hand that heighten the appeal of this rare clock. This is a truly a striking design. This clock varies from the standard model 6381 in 3 ways: the face is marked Herman Miller, the "puck" feet on the bottom of case are smaller in diameter, model # not stamped into case bottom. This is believed to be an early production or prototype of this model. The condition of this is all original showing some crazing on the Macassar Ebony finish and some cracking of the veneer on the left side(see photo). Both dial glasses are original with no cracks or chips. Dial faces are original and show some light wear consistent with the age of the clock. The clock is fitted with the original movement with starter wheel that is in working condition at this time. Power should be replaced. Clock case can be refinished if requested + a new cord installed. Clock measures 5.75" high by 10" wide by 2.25" deep. There is no guarantee of accuracy with clock keeping time. Early 1949 Nelson Design with Map-Pin Hour Markers
Rare 1949 George Nelson designed "Masonite", wood and metal table clock made by Howard Miller clock Company of Zeeland, Michigan. Showcased is an early and rare version of the "Masonite" 4767 clock. The large round clock face with a thin band of wood surround, bent metal base that gently leans back and the map-pin hour markers truly showcase George Nelson's use of a wide variety of materials and design elements. Clock is in great original condition and signed with decal manufacturer's label on the back of wood clock case - this beautiful clock has not been touched. Dark gray Masonite face has a few small white marks as well as the wood face surround. The original enameled gray metal base + gray lacquered wood clock body has some minor paint wear consistent with age and careful use. Aluminum hands are original are close to perfect and the often missing red second hand has a slight bend in it. Clock is in working condition with a long cord. The clock face on this example has an intricate Victorian Revival theme. The clock is marked on the face 'Made in Germany' The clock face is original and in good condition. Gilbert Rohde designed Art Deco electric clock model # 6351 manufactured by the Herman Miller Clock Company ca. 1934. This clock is an exceptionally clean, moderne design by Gilbert Rohde. The circular spun aluminum clock case is stabilized by a straight diagonal black alumilite finish bar. This iconic clock is featured in the book The Machine Age in America: 1918-1941 and is part of the collection at the Museum of Fine Art Boston. This clock has not been cleaned in any way and is all-original The silver dial is lithographed with black deco numerals and imprinted “Herman Miller Clock Co., Zeeland, Mich, USA”. The condition this all-original clock is great with only some signs of age + use to the spun aluminum case and black diagonal member. Exceedingly rare Lackner Neon-Glo Art Deco 'Dulcy' in marbled translucent orchid catalin clock made in the 30's and 40's in Cincinnati, Ohio. The orchid color found on this example is so rare not many know of its existence, only two.. The "Dulcy' made by Lackner is the only catalin case clock that lites-up with a neon giving the cabinet + dial a beautiful warm glow, setting it apart from other clocks manufactured in the 1940s. Distinctive Art Deco features of the clock include the abstract numerals, streamlined ribbed metal trim + stepped skyscraper design. This orchid pink Lackner has a beautiful gloss to the case and is highly marbleized with tones of, orchid, white + clear that add depth to the catalin....this is truly a unique piece. All Original Seldom Seen Table Clock with Swimming Goldfish
This "Fishbowl" clock is wonderful example of Japanese Art Deco design made in the early 1930s by the National Clock Co. This whimsical windup clock, which rests under a bluish tinted glass dome, has deco numbers on a revolving ball that indicates hours and minutes. While one moving fish ticks out the seconds, the second fish oscillates in a fixed position acting as a pendulum. This gives the appearance that the fish are "swimming" inside of the fishbowl. This rare clock has six chrome feet similar to a Dominique design that attach to a black painted beveled base with chrome accents and a geometric frieze. This clock is pictured on page 21 of the book "Pastimes / Telling Time From 1879 to 1969" by Philip Collins. Clock is in wonderful original condition with slight wear to chrome and black paint. Clock is currently working and keeping time. Original bluish globe has one small fissure on the inside lip that can only bee seen when looking closely. Rare Art Deco Telechron "Quacker" Electric Alarm Clock by Industrial designer Belle Kogan. The whimsical design made of canary yellow Plaskon body with a deep orange Plaskon beak, and painted eyes that seem always to be watching you is absolutely stunning. This is one of the few true novelty clocks made by Telechron, and it is one of the most desirable. This clock was featured in the Telechron catalogs from 1935 through 1939. The "Quacker" model 7F63 was the alarm clock version of the similar "Smug" clock. Gilbert Rohde designed Art Deco Solid Honduras Mahogany electric clock model # 4723-A manufactured by the Herman Miller Clock Company ca. 1933. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design. The half sphere hour markers, teardrop hour hand, and a red second hand heighten the appeal of this rare clock. This is a truly striking design. Eleven of the hour markers are nickel-plated and the one at the 12 o'clock position is brass adding to the design and are original to the clock. The condition of this clock can only be described as near mint. Wood case has been refinished and looks great with a beautiful lustre. Wedge shaped clock base the original black paint. The clock is fitted with an alarm and a starter wheel that is in working condition at this time. Cloth covered power cord has been replaced and is long. This table clock measures approximately: 5.5" high by 4.75" wide by 2.5" deep. Beautiful Art Deco 1930's small flying saucer shaped laminated Catalin marbleized green and tortoise shell New Haven wind-up desk clock. The flying saucer shape of this clock is unlike any others that I have seen. Clock sits on a base that makes it look as if it were floating at a slight angle. Clock case has no cracks, hairlines, burns, or repairs and is currently working. Clock face is original and in good condition. Brass dial surround and back is bright and only has a small amount of corrosion on the inside of dial glass. Measures: 4.25" round by 1" deep. Gilbert Rohde Designed Machine Age Clock
Rare Gilbert Rohde Machine Age electric clock model 4706-N exhibited at the 1933-34 World's Fair in Chicago. Manufactured by the Herman Miller Clock Company ca. 1933. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including a chrome-ringed face that sits on a brushed aluminum base, with three speed-lines cut into it. The opalescent painted face has streamline numerals, hands, and a red second hand that heighten the appeal of this rare clock. This is a truly striking design. The condition of this iconic clock can only be described as near mint. It is obvious that this clock has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches and light pitting on chrome consistent with light careful use and age. Clock base retains the original brown felt still affixed to the bottom. Dial glass is original with no cracks or chips. The Deco black hour hand has a fine scratch caused by the spinning of the minute hand. This in no way detracts from this great clock. The clock is fitted with an alarm and a starter wheel that is in working condition at this time. Power cord is long and in good condition. Clock is marked Herman Miller clock Co. Zeeland, Mich. U.S.A. on the bottom of the face following the contour of the chrome bezel. This table clock measures 6 1/2" high by 6" wide by 3" deep. There is no guarantee of accuracy with clock keeping time. Chrome and Wood Model 4084 from the 1934 Chicago World's Fair
Beautiful Gilbert Rohde Art Deco clock from the series of clocks introduced at the Chicago World's Fair for Herman Miller. Original silver face with black raised hour markers, black hands, red second hand and a single curved chrome strip wrapping along one side of the clock. The clock is Number 4084-B in the Herman Miller company literature and was shown in the 1933 and 1937 catalogs and also in the special catalog for the 1934 Chicago World's Fair. Impressed model number 4084-B and original World's Fair factory label is affixed to the rear of clock Clock keeps perfect time and case has been refinished. Clock measures 8.75" high by 7.5" wide by 2.75" deep. There is no guarantee of accuracy with clock keeping time.
