Rare Virgin Gold Catalin Bakelite "Dice" Clock
New Haven "Dice" clock in bright-marbleized virgin gold catalin bakelite with inset black dots. This 1930's small wind-up desk clock is stunning in color referred to as virgin gold or canary yellow marbleized by the manufacturer. The clock has been polished back to its original color and is absolutely incredible + bright. This is the only one in this color combination that I have come across. Clock face with its great Art Deco numerals and design is original + in great condition with only small signs of age and use. Clock has no cracks, hairlines, or repairs, and is currently working. Silver metal dial surround has a few small dings consistent with age and use. Bottom of clock has a small discoloration as seen in last photo. Measures approximately: 2.75" square by 2.5" deep. Art Deco Japanese "Fishbowl" Clock with Swimming Goldfish
All Original Seldom Seen Table Clock with Swimming Goldfish
This "Fishbowl" clock is wonderful example of Japanese Art Deco design made in the early 1930s by the National Clock Co. This whimsical windup clock, which rests under a bluish tinted glass dome, has deco numbers on a revolving ball that indicates hours and minutes. While one moving fish ticks out the seconds, the second fish oscillates in a fixed position acting as a pendulum. This gives the appearance that the fish are "swimming" inside of the fishbowl. This rare clock has six chrome feet similar to a Dominique design that attach to a black painted beveled base with chrome accents and a geometric frieze. This clock is pictured on page 21 of the book "Pastimes / Telling Time From 1879 to 1969" by Philip Collins. Clock is in wonderful original condition with slight wear to chrome and black paint. Clock is currently working and keeping time. Original bluish globe has one small fissure on the inside lip that can only bee seen when looking closely. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including a chrome-ringed reverse painted face that sits on two black enameled "cylindrical" feet. The clocks reverse painted face with streamline numerals juxtaposed on a black background with ivory hands, and a red second hand heighten the appeal of this rare clock. Similar in design to model # 4706 but with painted black metal "cylindrical" feet and a reverse painted clock face juxtaposed on a black background with ivory hands. This most likely is a prototype/sample used to finalize the production model. Clock has original early Herman Miller label affixed to rear of clock. Rare + Whimsical Art Deco Telechron Belle Kogan Design Clock
Rare Art Deco Telechron "Quacker" Electric Alarm Clock by Industrial designer Belle Kogan. The whimsical design made of canary yellow Plaskon body with a deep orange Plaskon beak, and painted eyes that seem always to be watching you is absolutely stunning. This is one of the few true novelty clocks made by Telechron, and it is one of the most desirable. This clock was featured in the Telechron catalogs from 1935 through 1939. The "Quacker" model 7F63 was the alarm clock version of the similar "Smug" clock. Kogan, one of the first American female industrial designers, was an early pioneer in the use of plastics, and her clocks are collector's items today. This beautiful clock is all original with no cracks, chips or repairs to the Plaskon. Clock is in working condition and the alarm function also works properly and has a nice bell/buzzer sound. Striking Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this Crystal Bent Fyrart Aqua layered glass clocks design. Fyrart a play on the word fire + art as the glass was heated with fire to form the great shapes that can be seen on this rare clock. The geometric shape, colored curved glass, etched deco numerals filled with gold paint, and stylish brass hands heighten the appeal of this rare clock. This is a truly successful design that resembles a glacier with its beveled edges and sharp angles. The mirrored section on the front pane reflects the etched Deco clock numerals giving the effect of depth + and the layering of the glass gives it a gradient look. These incredible Art Deco Crystal Bent Fyrart clocks were, as the name implies, made from plate glass that was usually colored, that was heated + bent to form a face, + support for a Waltham clock movement. The condition of this clock can only be described as near mint. The aqua colored glass is free of any cracks or chips. It does have a very fine bubble in one of the panes of glass towards the edge. The mirrored section on the front pane directly behind the etched Deco clock face shows only the slightest amount of wear. The clock is fitted with the original electric Waltham Watch Co. movement that is in working condition at this time, cannot guarantee that it will continue working after shipping but it should. Great Art Deco 1930's small barrel shaped laminated Catalin marbleized in a bright butterscotch and red New Haven wind-up desk clock. This little blemish can hardly be seen and does not detract from this rare and beautiful little Bakelite clock.
