Scarce Art Deco 1936 Skyscraper AWA FISK Radiolette "Empire State" one-tenth scale cigarette box made of a lustrous highly marbled Beetle Plastic Bakelite. This seldom seen company giveaway resembles the AWA "Fisk" or "Empire State" radio for which the company was famous. The ivory base color of the Beetle Plastic Plaskon with the purple, navy and bright orange marbling make this company giveaway stand out. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the boxes exceptional look. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1936 model that is officially named "The Fisk". This model is also referred to as "The Skyscraper" or "Empire State" by collectors for obvious architectural reasons, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia.
Box is in wonderful original condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The hinges are perfect and the front red + black AWA enamelled logo which resembles a radio dial is in grat original condition.
Box measures: 3" high by 3.25" wide at base by 1.75" deep.
