The FADA 53x Catalin Radio Featured in "Classic Plastic Radios of the 30's+40's" by John Sideli

Ref: RA176

Rare and perfect prewar 1938 Fada model 53x Catalin radio in marbleized onyx with matching grill insert. This is the radio featured in John Sideli's book on Catalin radios titled "Classic Plastic Radios of the 1930's and 1940's" that was owned by important Catalin collector Mark Woolley. Wonderful Art Deco model made in 1938 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size.

This all onyx example is all original and in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Cabinet and grill have faint dark brown + orange marbleizing highlighted by a beautiful transparency. Catalin Cabinet and trim have no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. Trim is perfect and all original.

Radio retains the original gold manufacturers sticker on the bottom of the case with the "x" for onyx next to model # and the tube layout sticker.  Radio also retains part of the original fragile cardboard back.  This is truly a great example of this early FADA model.

The radio measures 7.75" wide by 5.75" high by 4.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
