Rarely Seen Speckled Plaskon 'Bantam' Model

Ref: RA332

Rare DeWald 'Bantam' Radio in dark raspberry speckled Plaskon with white accents. This 1939 DeWald is rarely seen in this speckled color.   Due to the size this tube radio is considered to me a midget size radio Even though midget radios were popular and offered in many color combinations, they have become hard to find in any color combination due to the fragile tiny plaskon cases.

This cabinet's design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling. It has great rounded edges with molded plastic ridges that up the radio, two small feet and an asymmetrical handle. Note that the cases of these sets are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived. These cases often cracked or became distorted due to the heat of the tubes in such a small plastic cabinet, this one has a perfect red plaskon cabinet and black trim.

The beautiful plaskon cabinet and trim retain a beautiful luster. The cabinet has no chips or burns. Cabinet does have a repair to the bottom that is difficult to discern.  Ivory plaskon knobs and handle are original to the radio and in great condition. The reverse painted plastic graphic dial face is original and in great condition as well.

This small radio measures approximately: 7.5" Wide by 5.5" High by 4.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
