Rare and perfect Jet Black Catalin with Orange Trim Emerson AX-235 'Little-Miracle' Radio. Collectors often refer to this rare color combination as the 'Halloween Radio'. This is among the rarest Catalin radios manufactured and the rarest Emerson radio made. Made in 1938 by Emerson Radio + Television is Emerson's first example of a small Catalin radio that also features a unique louvered insert grill. The small size of this radio combined with the great color and contrasting trim really makes for a stunning Art Deco radio.
The jet black catalin cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. This models fragile orange plastic grill + knobs are original to the radio and in great condition, color is bright, with only some very mild warping on the grill. Radio retains the original color coordinated black painted back panel and water-slide decal. Dial plastic is a correct replacement. Radio has small scratches, scuffs consistent with age + use of set. This radio is absolutely stunning and would make a fantastic addition to a collection.
Radio measures approximately: 8.85" wide by 5.25" high by 3.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete, cord is cut. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician prior to use.
