Emerson Radio & Television, Co. created several Catalin radios in quite diverse + interesting designs. Designers for Emerson included Norman Bel Geddes for the 1940 "Patriot", Count Alexis de Sakhnoffsky for the Mae West + several other Art Deco wood Ingraham cabinet radios.
The Catalin models produced by Emerson include the 1937 AU-190 "Tombstone" available in 6 colors, the 1938 AX-235 "Little Miracle" which was available in 6 colors including the elusive Black with Orange trim, the 1938 BT-245 "Tombstone" available in 5 colors, the 1940 FC-400 "Patriot" available in 3 colors, the "Aristocrat" available in 6 colors, and finally the last Catalin radio made by Emerson the 520.

The seldom seen Emerson 'Stradivarius' Model CV-298 Square-Dial version radio in stripped walnut. Here is your chance to add this highly desirable example known as a Square-Dial 'Strad' and not the more commonly found D-Dial CH-256 to your collection. By 1939 radios had advanced to having an internal loop antenna and the D-Dial CL-256 didn't have enough room inside the cabinet for the antenna; therefore Emerson had Ingraham slightly increase all the measurements of the CL to accommodate the new CV-298 chassis + antenna. This 1939 radio design has to be one of the most beautiful Ingraham cabinets made. The radio's elegant violin shape, sounding cutouts and grille bars that resemble the strings of a violin are unlike any other radio. This is a Radio has been cosmetically restored back to its original beauty really making the stripped walnut pop. The radio was a very clean example prior to restoration, and it had no missing or chipped veneers on case or the wrap around inlays. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a great example of this Emerson 'Little Miracle' model; it's not often that you find a yellow example without a tube burn or crack. The cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. This models fragile black plastic grill + knobs which, are prone to deterioration, are original + good condition showing only some mild warp and wear on the grill. Dial plastic and decal are correct replacements. Has small scratches consistent with age and use. This radio is absolutely beautiful and would make a fantastic addition to a collection. Radio measures approximately: 9.75" wide by 7.25" high by 5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician prior to use.
