Rare FADA 149 Catalin Radio in Emerald Green + Butterscotch
Great Early Wrap-Around FADA L-56 Catalin Radio
Ref: RA711
Beautiful + Rare FADA model 149 (L-56) catalin radio in highly marbleized Emerald Green with butterscotch wrap-around grille + knobs. This Art Deco catalin model made in 1939 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. This seldom seen emerald green + butterscotch catalin example is a beautiful example with great swirls and vibrancy. The model 149 differs from a model L-56 in a few ways; the knobs are gumdrop shape, the dial is different and marked Fada rather than having a water-slide decal and chassis is stamped 149. The vibrant emerald green cabinet is highly marbleized with yellow, darker and lighter green veins.
The vibrant green catalin cabinet and handle are free of cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs....this is a great example. The marbleized butterscotch insert grill and gumdrop knobs are original to the radio and have no damage. Clear dial plastic cover and water-slide decal are correct replacements. The beautiful graphic dial is bright and in great condition. Radio retains the original paper manufacturers label affixed to the bottom designating it as a Model 149. The dial plastic + water-slide decal are correct replacements. Radio has small scratches consistent with age + use of set. This radio is as clean as one can be found and would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection.
Radio measures approximately: 9" wide by 5.5" high by 4" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
