FADA 5F60 Catalin Radio Yellow with Translucent Marbleized Onyx Green
Beautiful Early FADA 5F60 or 'Baby Fada' Catalin Radio
Ref: RA545
Beautiful prewar Fada model 5F60-AU Catalin radio in yellow with a translucent onyx green marbleized insert grill. This is one of the earliest Catalin radio models made 1936/37 which has a simple and distinct cabinet design. This yellow + onyx example is in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Onyx grill has beautiful yellow with clear marbleizing and a beautiful transparency to it that gives it depth. This model has come to be known to collectors as the 'Baby Fada' because of its small size. The AU designation at the end of the model # is the color code for Alabaster + Onyx per FADA catalogs of the era.
The catalin cabinet retains the factory gloss, the onyx green trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example. Catalin cabinet, insert grill and fluted knobs are original and have no cracks, chips or repairs. Cabinet has a mild tube burn and a small scuff on the left front edge as seen in the photos. Clear dial plastic cover and Fada decal are correct replacements. This beautiful FADA has been well taken care of and has very few small scratches consistent with light use. This is a great example of an all-original early FADA.
The radio measures 7.75" wide by 5" high by 4.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete, cord is cut. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
