Rare FADA 'All-American' Bullet Streamliner Series 200/189 with a marbleized alabaster cabinet, marbleized blue dial bezel + bright red marbleized Catalin handle and knobs.This extremely rare + beautiful all original radio is seldom seen. This model was most likely produced by FADA Radio to compete with the Emerson Patriot, another Catalin radio issued in the red-white-blue color combo. This radio styling epitomizes 1940’s Streamline design. Its sleek, rounded lines suggest speed and practicality, hallmarks of streamlined industrial design from those years. FADA produced many radios and televisions over the years, but its Catalin radios, particularly the 'Bullet' are the best-known models.
The beautifully marbleized cabinet has been cut/polished back to the original alabaster from the oxidized butterscotch and the original lapis-lazuli blue catalin has been polished back original color from the oxidized green to make for a strikingly beautiful radio; see last photo for before. The dial ring is original and correct to the radio and in great condition with no cracks, stress lines, chips or repairs. The marbleized cabinet is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs.The red 200 Series sharp edged gumdrop knobs and handle are original to the radio. The early style 200 grill cloth is original and in great condition. The 200 Series gold gemloid dial face with different numbering + triangular station markers is different from the standard Model 100 is in great bright condition. Radio retains the original and correct stickers on the bottom of the cabinet, + cardboard back panel in great condition. This beautiful FADA has been well taken care of and has very few small scratches consistent with light use. This radio is as clean as one can be found and would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection.
Radio measures approximately: 10.25" wide by 6.25" high by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
