Fada Model 136 Catalin Radio in Highly Marbleized Onyx Green + Yellow Trim
Great Early Wrap-Around FADA 136 Catalin Radio
Ref: RA699
FADA model 136 in translucent marbleized onyx with yellow wrap-around grill, knobs + handle. This Art Deco catalin model made in 1939 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. The model 136 differs from a model L-56 in a few ways; the knobs are gumdrop shape and the dial is different and marked Fada rather than having a water-slide decal. This seldom seen onyx + light yellow catalin example is a beautiful example with great swirls of white, green burnt orange with incredible translucency.
The glossy onyx catalin cabinet is in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs; it does have a mild tube burn that blends nicely with the swirls and color. Radio's cabinet has been cut/polished (by me) back to its original onyx green color from it's oxidized caramel coloring. The marbleized yellow insert grill, knobs and fluted knobs are original and have no damage. The beautiful graphic dial is bright and in great condition. The dial plastic is a correct replacement. Radio has small scratches consistent with age + use of set. This is a seldom found color combination that would truly make a great addition to any radio or Deco collection.
Radio measures approximately: 9" wide by 5.5" high by 4" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
