Howard Miller Clock Howard Miller Clock Company was founded in 1926, as the Herman Miller Clock Company division of office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller in Zeeland, Michigan, specializing in chiming wall and mantle clocks. Starting in 1947, the Howard Miller Clock Company made table and wall clocks designed by George Nelson Associates. The George Nelson Associates designed clocks are estimated at over 150 clock designs. The first creation was model 4755 or "Ball Clock" which is the most recognizable example for most.

A number of Nelson Associates whimsical clocks became icons of the era, the Ball, Block, Spike, Eye, Spindle, Sunflower, along with others. It is interesting to know that the clocks were only given model numbers and not the names we have come to refer to them as. Most of the clocks models were available in more than one color combo, the 4755 "Ball" Clock was available in six color variations. All Electrical George Nelson Associates wall clocks were available with a cord & plug or as a "Chronopak" which mounted in a standard outlet box installed at the location chosen by the Homeowners to give that built in effect.

The Howard Miller Clock Company's collaboration with George Nelson also yielded other items such as the paper "Bubble Lamp" which were sold through Richards Morgenthau, Inc..
