Rare Zephyr 'Color Glow' Illuminated Catalin 1930's Deco radio. This seldom seen radio consists of an oval ivory lacquer wood cabinet with a translucent green catalin front panel that lights-up from the inside giving the radio a warm glow, setting it apart from other radios manufactured in the 1930s. This interesting feature along with the use of different materials makes for a highly unusual and rare Art Deco radio. The radio is further highlighted by the large circular dial with great graphics. Designed by Morris Weincord of Chicago, IL in 1936 for the Cord Radio Co. Radio is in great condition with some wear to chrome trim as would be expected from age and use; + lacquered wood cabinet has been beautifully restored. The original green catalin front panel is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, repairs or burns. Radio retains the original ZEPHYR decal on front, ivory plaskon knobs, grille cloth and matching wood back panel, manufacturers sticker has be recreated. Radio lights-up as it should and looks breathtaking at night as well as during the day. The radio is lit by two clear 4W led night light bulbs wired separately from the radio. Ivory Plaskon Colonial "New World" 158 Globe Radio - Loewy Design

Striking and Unusual Plaskon Antique Tube Radio

Beautiful Ivory Raymond Loewy designed Colonial "New World" Globe Type 158 is a striking and unusual Plaskon tube radio. Resembling a world globe this 1933 patented this radio is early and very different from other novelty radios of the time. Circling the globe at its equator is a metal ring with knobs on either side. Above this, at the top, is a decorative brass finial showing the compass directions. The globe's intuitive design allows it to rotate 180 degrees on its base. The condition of this rare radio is as close to perfect as can be found very few have survived intact. The fragile Plaskon cabinet and base is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns, or repairs; however it does have with one small hairline on base. The painted maps on the globe are all original and in great condition with only the slightest signs of age. The radio retains its original knobs, trim, base plate and grille cloths all in great condition. This rare radio is absolutely stunning and would make a fantastic addition to a collection. Great Art Deco Circular Mexican Made Radio

Deco chromed metal circular EGM radio that pivots in its chrome, wood and onyx base/cradle. This seldom seen radio was made in the 1940's by Electronica General de Mexico in Mexico City. This model is one of two models made by this company which I have seen. This solidly built radio with its chromed metal casing and cradle attached to a wooden and beautiful veined onyx base weighs around 30lbs. The geometric grille cutouts remind me of an Aztec design. This radio was recently re-chromed back to its original state and looks wonderful. Onyx base has beautiful veins of green, white and amber; it is in perfect condition with no cracks or chips. Wood part of the base is also in great as found condition. Retains the original matching stamped louvered metal back. The grille cloth is a period correct replacement. Beautiful Black plaskon bakelite with Ivory Trim Art Deco Philco Transitone radio model TP-20 from 1939. Considered to be one of the most Art Deco radios manufactured by Philco along with the Philco / Simplex model UA-52P. This great deco radio is made of jet black plaskon cabinet with a 'wrap around' grill and knobs of Ivory colored tenite plastic. There are a few versions of this style but this one is the sleekest. This is not a model that shows up often especially in this good of condition. The radio is original, with a beautiful + natural gloss and is just a superb example of this Deco Philco model. Great small Federal 159 'Circle' 1937/38 radio in a beautiful finely grained book-matched walnut veneers with black edge detail. Unusual modern radio for its time was advertised as "beautiful and graceful---yet striking in appearance" due to its circular design combined and small size. The simple cabinet is highlighted by a large round dial face trimmed in brass and two ball brass/gold feet. Circular radios were only manufactured by a few brand names during the late 1930's; thus making it d difficult design to acquire. This radio design can also be found branded as a Silver with a different dial scale and label; see original advertisement. The radios cabinet has recently been refinished and it is stunning. Radio was carefully restored to match the original toning that accentuates the round design. Rare + Beautiful Machine Age Deco Pacific 'Air Cruiser' Radio Model 100. Designed in 1936 by Joseph Price for the Pacific Radio Corporation out of Chicago, Illinois. This radio is among the most streamlined Art Deco radios to be found. The design is a refreshing, futuristic departure from the heavy ornate cabinets of the time. The cabinet is a dynamic downward swooping shape accentuated by four lateral side fins that evoke movement + speed. The teardrop design and fins reminds me of the design used on indoor speed cycling helmets.....really aerodynamic. The set has a great 'sailing ship' dial which only adds to its exciting design making the radio look like it is in motion, almost "cruising" along. Only the 4rd example that I have seen. The Climax 'Ruby’ Tear-Drop design model 35 radio is an Art Deco rarity made by the Climax Radio & Television Co out of Chicago, Illinois in 1937. This truly is a spectacular Art Deco streamlined designed radio example that is seldom found especially with the tuning-eye. The graceful yet dynamic styling of this 'tear-drop' cabinet makes a strong Art Deco statement not seen in many radios of the time period. The beautiful striped walnut veneers accentuate the graceful streamlining of the radio that is also highlighted by a black painted base, brass dial and tuning eye escutcheons. Climax Radio definitely produced some great Art Deco radios while they were in business. The radios’ cabinet has a beautiful older restoration that really makes the veneers really stand out on the polished black base. Scarce Deco 1930's Skyscraper FISK Radiolette by AWA 'Empire State' tube radio made of a lustrous jade green plaskon, with beautifully contrasting chrome dial bezel surround. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1934 model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. It is believed that the radio was designed to model the companies AWA Building at 45-47 York Street in Sydney, Australia. This example is the earlier and rarer version with the matching color coordinated molded back panel. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1934 model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. This radio is the AUS version of the American made Air King "Skyscraper" designed by Harold Van Doren. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Radio is in good original condition with some of the common defects this model and pastel colors are prone to; some tight hairlines and discoloration in the fragile plaskon case, knobs and back panel. Made made by the Champion Electric Corporation Ltd, 1947, in Great Britain. Plastics could be manufactured in almost any shape, widening the scope for modernist designers and it was possible to produce a fashionable rose color and an exciting form. Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio in Brown Bakelite + Ivory

Unique Circular Design French Radialva "Super-Boum"

Seldom seen Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio in brown Bakelite with contrasting Ivory Tenite grill + knobs. The "Super Boum" is a unique round shaped radio manufactured by Radialva in France circa 1940's. It is one of the most prized Bakelite radios from the French vintage radio market that is rarely available in the States. The design was inspired by the British "Ekco" radio in the forties, and the radio's high price and radical design with its bulls-eye grill was not well received by the public. Less than 2,000 Super Boum's were sold making this an extremely rare find. The unique styling and great condition would make this radio a truly beautiful and unique addition to any radio collection. This is an interesting design that uses two similar, equal sized pieces of Bakelite that come together in the center, secured by plastic screws. The chassis is inserted in the center and then enclosed by two pieces of Bakelite, like a suitcase. This French made Radialva radio with its circular design, clam-shell(interlocking) cabinet design + concentric circle grill is unlike any other radios of the time that makes for an absolutely stunning radio. The original half circle gold colored plastic dial face with names of cities around Europe is in good condition. This particular example is a stunning radio in excellent original condition with no cracks, chips, burns, or repairs to the cabinet or trim. The brown Bakelite cabinet has a wonderful natural gloss to it. This "Super Boum" has been well taken care of and only has some small scratches/marks consistent with light use. The fragile ivory Tenite grill and knobs are factory original to the radio and in great condition. This unique radio measures approximately: 8.5" wide by 9" high by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the complex round chassis of this radio seems complete, has a European plug. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
