Remler "Scottie" 40 Radio w/ Blue Mirror Case - Rare
Seldom Seen Remler Bakelite Radio w/ Original Blue Glass Case
Fantastic Remler model 40 "Scottie" with factory blue mirror case. This is truly a rare find + a stunning looking Deco radio. The mirror case was an add-on available at Remler in 1936 at a cost of $20.00 - see original advertisement. Remler model 40 "Scottie" radio just slid into the mirror case to transform an already great looking Bakelite radio into a luxurious mirrored radio. Very few cases seem to have been sold due to cost or have survived over time as they are rarely found. Made in San Francisco, California, Remler radios were often characterized by their Deco designs in black and/or ivory with their distinctive Scotty dog logo. The blue mirror glass case is in wonderful original condition with no cracks or chips to the cobalt glass. Mirrors are original and look beautiful, with only minor scratches and oxidation consistent with age + use. The accent chrome trim on the case's edges has some minor wear. Case retains original tan felt on bottom. The accompanying model 40 "Scottie" radio has a black Bakelite body + an inset ivory Plaskon Art Deco grille and knobs. The radio retains a beautiful luster to the cabinet + trim and has only one hairline on the bottom screw hole. Scotty dog still has his often broken tail. Radio has original knobs, gold grill cloth and matching black Bakelite back panel all in great condition. This extremely well built radio is pretty heavy for it's small size of approximately: 11" wide by 7" high by 5.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Rare Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio w/ Separate Speaker
Unique Circular Design French Radialva "Super-Boum" w/ Aux Speaker
Seldom seen Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio with rare matching auxiliary speaker in white Plaskon with contrasting green Tenite grill + knobs. The "Super Boum" is a unique round shaped radio manufactured by Radialva in France circa 1940's. It is one of the most prized Bakelite radios from the French vintage radio market that is rarely available in the States. The design was inspired by the British "Ekco" radio in the forties, and the radio's high price and radical design with its bulls-eye grill was not well received by the public. Less than 2,000 Super Boum's were sold making this an extremely rare find. The unique styling and great condition would make this radio a truly beautiful and unique addition to any radio collection. This is an interesting design that uses two similar, equal sized pieces of Bakelite that come together in the center, secured by plastic screws. The chassis is inserted in the center and then enclosed by two pieces of Bakelite, like a suitcase. This French made Radialva radio with its circular design, clam-shell(interlocking) cabinet design + concentric circle grill is unlike any other radios of the time that makes for an absolutely stunning radio. The original half circle gold colored plastic dial face with names of cities around Europe is in great condition. Speaker cabinet is same size as radio with same green tenite grill, glued on knobs and a fan shaped metal "foot" that swings out to hold it upright as it is only the thickness of the front of cabinet. This particular example is a stunning radio and speaker is excellent original condition with no cracks, chips, burns, or repairs to the cabinets. The pure white Bakelite cabinets have a wonderful natural gloss to it. This "Super Boum" has been well taken care of and only has some small scratches/marks consistent with light use and one almost invisible 1/2" stress line on the back section of cabinet. The fragile green Tenite grills are complete and factory original to the radio. The Tenite knobs have some shrinkage/stress-lines as seen in the photos. These little items do not detract from the beauty and rarity of this radio and speaker set. The semi-circle brown and gold dial scale reverse painted is in great condition. This unique radio measures approximately: 8.5" wide by 9" high by 5.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the complex round chassis of this radio seems complete, has a European plug. SONY TR-78 Transistor Radio Prototype / Sales Sample - Marked "Sample Only"
Radio acquired from the family of an employee of Agrod in New York
Sony TR-78 Transistor Radio rare sales sample or prototype model. Radio acquired from the family of an employee of the Agrod Company in New York who was the exclusive U.S. importer for all Sony radio + microphone products starting in 1957. This TR-78 was shipped to Agrod by Sony as a sales sample of a radio that was being considered for the US market - this model radio was never made available as far as we can tell. We have looked + have been unable to find reference to this model on Sony collectors websites and else where. This rare radio is faintly marked on the rear "Sample Only" and "Property of...". Cabinet is ivory plastic that is factory painted a pink/rose color - most all plastics that are molded the dye is introduced into the melted plastic and blended during the molding process the color is throughout the plastic this cabinet was painted, further identifying it as a sample or prototype. Radio retains original tag on the back stating model # as TR-78 - Seven Transistor All Wave that is somewhat faded but can still be read. Radio does have some damage + wear as seen in photos, one grill bar is cracked. Chassis seems complete except for the lack of speaker. All parts on radio seem original and correct. Measures approximately: 13" wide by 5" high by 3.75" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Zenith Model 812 Art Deco 1935 Radio - The 811 Export Version
Rare Zenith 812 Export Version Radio with Bold + Radical Deco Styling
The curved + asymmetrical design of the Zenith 812 (The 811 Export Version) tombstone radio makes for an ultra rare + unusual model that is a stunning example of Art deco design. This asymmetrical design was radical in a time when rectangular tombstone radios and furniture-like consoles were stylish and loved by all, thus making this model an elusive find today. Also adding to the rarity is the low production number of 1,154 units and a relatively fragile construction of the cabinet. There are a few differences between the 811 (chassis 5609) + the 812 export model (chassis 5608): The model 812 dial scale is shown entirely in meters while the model 811 displays frequency in kilocycles, see close-up of dial. Other features of this set include: the introduction of Triple Filtering and reception of domestic + foreign broadcasts. This radio retains the original finish in very nice condition with some signs of use consistent with age. The book-matched veneer on the front of the radio makes a 'V' design that further intensifies the Art Deco elements in the radios design. The Cabinet is structurally sound. All components are original including the correct speaker (SPEC.3448//49 87//3000 OHMS), wood back panel(with serial #), grille cloth + wooden knobs. Chassis retains the original metal and paper tags with model, serial number and safety info attached to the back of chassis. Cabinet has the manufactures paper label inside the cabinet. More photos of the radio are available by request. This incredible radio would make a great addition to a any high-end radio or Art Deco collection. Rare + Art Deco AWA "Skyscraper" Radio Company Giveaway
Scarce Art Deco 1936 Skyscraper AWA FISK Radiolette "Empire State" one-tenth scale cigarette box made of a lustrous highly marbled Beetle Plastic Bakelite. This seldom seen company giveaway resembles the AWA "Fisk" or "Empire State" radio for which the company was famous. The ivory base color of the Beetle Plastic Plaskon with the purple, navy and bright orange marbling make this company giveaway stand out. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the boxes exceptional look. The inside of the lid in embossed "FISK" RADIOLETTE Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1936 model that is officially named "The Fisk". This model is also referred to as "The Skyscraper" or "Empire State" by collectors for obvious architectural reasons, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. Box is in wonderful original condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The hinges are perfect and the front red + black AWA enamelled logo which resembles a radio dial is in grat original condition. Box measures: 3" high by 3.25" wide at base by 1.75" deep.

Beautiful AWA Fisk Skyscraper Radio in Marbled Beetle Plastic
Art Deco scarce 1930's Skyscraper FISK Radiolette by AWA "Empire State" tube radio made of a lustrous highly marbled Beetle Plastic Bakelite, with beautifully contrasting chrome dial bezel surround. The ivory base color of the Beetle Plastic Plaskon with the purple, navy and bright orange marbling make this radio stand out. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1934 model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1934 model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. This radio is the AUS version of the American made Air King "Skyscraper" designed by Harold Van Doren. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Raymond Loewy Colonial "New World" Globe Radio Model 702
Striking and Unusual Plaskon Antique Tube Radio
Raymond Loewy designed Colonial "New World" Globe model 702 is a striking and unusual Plaskon tube radio. Patented in 1933 this radio is early and very different from other novelty radios of the time. Circling the globe at its equator is a metal ring. Above this, at the top, is a decorative brass finial showing the compass directions. The condition of this rare radio is as close to perfect as can be found very few have survived intact. The fragile Plaskon cabinet and base have no cracks, chips, cracks, tube burns, or repairs. The painted maps on the globe are all original and in great condition with only minimal fading/loss to the gold paint. The large, wheel-shaped plated knobs are original to the radio and in great condition. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete.
