Spectacular Radio-Glo stained glass, chrome + ebonized wood Deco radio. This seldom seen radio is made of turquoise/blue and light yellow stained glass panels that light-up from the inside. The skyscraper designed radio is accented by chromed metal, vertical spacers, and pilasters. The stained glass panels light-up from the inside giving the radio a warm glow, setting it apart from other radios manufactured in the 1930s. This interesting feature along with the use of different materials makes for a highly unusual and rare Art Deco radio.
Manufactured by the Radio-Glo Company Inc. of, Benton Harbor, Michigan is the only radio made by the company. Designed and patented by George A. Stamm for the Radio-Glo Company in 1936.
Radio is in great all-original condition with some wear to chrome + ebonized wood as would be expected from age and use. All stained glass is original to the radio and is in wonderful condition with only two small hairlines on the panels behind each knob. Radio retains the original black Bakelite knobs and wood back panel. Radio lights-up as it should and looks breathtaking at night as well as during the day. The radio is lit by two clear 4W night light bulbs and the lights can be turned on and off by a switch on the back of the radio separate from the radio.
This radio measures approximately: 14" wide by 13" high by 9" deep. This set is currently playing but should vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
