Rare Art Deco Mattatuck "Commander" Type 101 Toaster
Early + rare 1930's chrome 2-slice with black Catalin trim toaster
Ref: O223
American made Type 101 "Commander" electric bread toaster in chrome with black Bakelite / Catalin trim. This toaster was made in the early 1930's by the Mattatuck Mfg Company out of Waterbury CT. and is called a Type 101 "Commander" electric toaster. This seldom seen Art Deco toaster has a size and presence not found in the other toasters of this era.
The toaster is in original, untouched and complete condition, with very good-looking original chrome and mica elements. Do not miss the opportunity to own this exceptional toaster, as they do not show up for sale often and especially in this great of a condition. This rare toaster serial #11761 is in wonderful original condition for being as old as it is. I have not cleaned the item in any way. The toaster is complete and the heavy chrome is very bright and shiny. As you can see in the pictures, the case of the toaster is just stunning and in great condition with no dents or dings. All it has are some little surface scratches from regular cleaning and light pitting/surface rust on the chrome - see photos. This in no way detracts from the beauty and rarity of this toaster. The toaster is ready to be displayed. The wear it has is consistent with gentle use and age.
This toaster is sold "as-is + untested", everything seems complete. Toaster is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician prior to use.
