Striking and Unusual Plaskon Antique Tube Radio

Raymond Loewy designed Colonial "New World" Globe model 702 is a striking and unusual Plaskon tube radio. Patented in 1933 this radio is early and very different from other novelty radios of the time.

Circling the globe at its equator is a metal ring. Above this, at the top, is a decorative brass finial showing the compass directions.  The condition of this rare radio is as close to perfect as can be found very few have survived intact. The fragile Plaskon cabinet and base have no cracks, chips, cracks, tube burns, or repairs.  The painted maps on the globe are all original and in great condition with only minimal fading/loss to the gold paint. The large, wheel-shaped plated knobs are original to the radio and in great condition.

This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
