Seldom Seen Model in a Great Color Combo

Ref: RA831

Deco Machine Age RCA Victor Radio known as the 'Little Nipper' 9-SX in bright red plaskon with an ivory Plaskon grille. This 1939 model is an incredibly well designed streamlined tube radio designed by John Vassos.

This little radio is constructed of 3 separate plaskon Bakelite pieces, first is the red plaskon body, second is the ivory Plaskon wrap-around deco grill with the great RCA Victor logo engraved vertically on the rounded corner, and third + lastly is the top plaskon stepped trim piece. Even though these midget sized radios were popular in their time and offered in many color combinations, they have become hard to find in any combination due to its fragile plaskon case.

Cabinet has no cracks, burns or repair; however it does have the typical hairline crack on the bottom rear screw hole as visible in photo. Ivory Plaskon Wrap-Grille grille has no damage. Radio has the original red knobs that are free of any damage. The fragile plastic dial is original and and dial scale decal is a correct replacement, radio retains original matching rear red knob. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with age + careful use.

The radio measures approximately: 5" high by 8" wide by 5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete, cord is cut.  Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
