This magnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio manufactured in the 1940's by ADDISON INDUSTRIES LIMITED in Toronto, Canada also known to collectors as the 'Courthouse' or 'Large' Addison. The catalin has a deep shine, rich color and glow that make this radio stand out. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a stunning example of this Addison model. The beautiful glossy cabinet is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The five yellow vertical grill bars are original to the radio as are the three matching pinwheel knobs. The grill cloth is original and in great condition with strong color. Seldom seen Red General Television radio 5A5 made of highly marbleized Tenite Bakelite, with beautifully contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial escutcheon. Made in mid 1940's by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 5A5. The gold face features a stunning textured deco sunburst pattern, with a gold Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. The radio is in original, untouched condition, with a beautiful and natural gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. The beautiful Tenite Bakelite cabinet and ivory polystyrene trim is in incredible original condition. Cabinet + trim have no cracks, chips, or repairs. Small Tom Thumb Catalin radio made in the late 1930s by the Automatic Radio Mfg. Co. The model 955 is known to collectors as the 'Oval-Dial' The Tom Thumb name is a perfect fit for this radio - as it is one of the smallest radios made of catalin. This model has a design that is unique with attached Catalin feet, an oval-shaped dial face, Deco grill cutouts, and vertically positioned knobs. This marbleized yellow example is all original + in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. The warm yellow marbleized catalin cabinet has no cracks, chips or repairs; cabinet has a small tube burn (common for a Tom Thumb). Impressive Motorola Catalin Radio 50XC-4 'Circle-Grill' in beautiful highly marbleized tortoise brown with translucent tortoise catalin trim. The Motorola 'Circle-Grille' model is a magnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio manufactured in 1940 by Motorola Radio. This Motorola design is considered one of the most appealing sets of its time beautifully designed in the Art Deco Style. The details are unique with its round catalin speaker bezel, scalloped handle, and hexagonal knobs. The cabinet features streamlined ridges that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together. The silver dial face is also decorated with deco numerals and sunburst designs that emanate from a red plastic dial pointer with the letter "M" cast in to it. The tortoise catalin has a deep shine that makes its rich reddish-orange brown color glow and shows off exceptionally striking colorful, yellow + orange marbleizing. The beautiful patina'd sand colored catalin is highlighted by swirls of orange, brown and yellow to add depth to the color. The translucent tortoise trim makes for a harmonious color combination. Scarce Kadette K-12 ‘Classic’ made in 1936 by the International Radio Corporation of Ann Arbor, Michigan. This example with its ivory body and green colored top made of plaskon and a marbled green tenite grill and knobs is rather striking. Ads of the time boasted that this was the first radio made from 3 different plastics. An interesting radio that was designed to be viewed from all angles, with the back of the radio similar to the front. Their aesthetic appeal and scarcity have made these rare to find. The chassis is heavy and the plaskon cabinet fragile, so most didn't survive and the ones that surface usually have cabinet damage. It is difficult to find an example that is in such wonderful condition. This radio is in original, untouched condition, with a beautiful and natural gloss. The ivory cabinet and green top are in great condition with no chips, tube burns or repairs; however the cabinet has a couple tight hairlines. Impressive Air King A-600 'Duchess' catalin radio in beautifully marbleized jade green with yellow trim, is a radio with a unique design + construction. Designed in 1946, this radio is comprised of 3 separate catalin pieces setting it apart from other radios of the time. The green cabinet and the front of the cabinet consists of two colors, the green insert grille and the yellow surround, both cast separately which are fastened to the yellow cabinet. It is believed that the front surround + the large attached grill are among the largest cast catalin parts ever made. The beautifully marbleized jade green catalin cabinet is contrasted with the yellow trim. The green Catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of green, light yellow/alabaster + clear that add depth to an already beautiful radio. The stately size of this radio, the color, and contrasting trim make for a stunning Art Deco radio. Radio cabinet has been hand polished to an incredible gloss. This radio's beautiful catalin cabinet is in great original condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns, or repairs. The yellow catalin grill surround and matching green catalin knobs are free of cracks, chips, or repairs. The plastic dial face is in great original condition with only minimal signs of use + age. The masonite back is original to the radio and still retains the original manufacturers sticker. Radio measures approximately: 13" wide by 8" high by 7" deep.
