Quintessential American Art Deco Air King Radio Design
Striking Ivory Air King 'Skyscraper' Model 52 radio with the Egyptian insert; a true American Art Deco design icon. John Sideli in his book "Classic Plastic Radios of the 30's and 40's" called it "one of the most important plastic radios ever made". This ivory plaskon with black trim Air King Model 52 was designed by Harold Van Doren + John Gordon Rideout for the Air King Products Company of New York in 1933. This early model radio constructed of plaskon(an early plastic), has the rarer Egyptian insert on its waterfall facade and the large deco "AK" tuning knob. The Deco Egyptian insert is original and in great condition with only slight signs of age. The three black bakelite knobs + the two ivory top bars are original to the radio and perfect. Kadette 'Clockette' K26 Radio in Clear ‘Blue Glass’ Catalin - Ultra Rare
Incredible Blue Glass / Clear Green Kadette Clockette
Exceedingly Rare Clear 'Blue Glass' Catalin Kadette 'Clockette' model K26 radio. Referred by Kadette in advertisements as 'Blue Glass' due to it being clear and originally blue from the factory; it has now oxidized to a beautiful medium bright green. The Clockette with its elegant cube design, etched grooves that wrap around and its distinctive 'clock ' style brass dial bezel is unlike any other catalin radio. This radio's absolutely striking clear cabinet allows you to see the internal components of the radio! This is a great example of this Kadette 'Clockette' model. This color combination when one can be found is prone to damage due to the manufacturing process, clear 'crystlin' catalin material, grooves and tight fit of chassis. This example is no exception and therefore the cabinet was professionally repaired by Dan Blake many years back and looks spectacular; virtually impossible to see repair on this clear catalin radio. The clear green catalin radio cabinet has an incredible gloss and it is absolutely striking on display. The two matching catalin front knobs and rear clear catalin knob are original to the radio and damage free. Brass dial bezel, mesh screen and pointer are original to the radio and exhibit some light signs of age. Water-slide decal is a correct replacement. Radio has small scratches, scuffs consistent with age + use of set. This radio is absolutely striking and it would make a fantastic addition to a radio collection as it is not something that comes to market often. Radio measures approximately: 7" wide by 7" high by 5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete; cord is cut. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician prior to use. **Price by Request**

Detrola 274 'Split-Grille' Radio - Blue Plaskon w/ White Trim
Uncommon Early Plaskon Detrola Radio
This rarely seen Bright Blue Plaskon Detrola "Split-Grille" 274 Tube Radio is one of the most elusive designs that Detrola ever produced. This example is made of solid blue Plaskon with white Tenite knobs and 'Split-Grilles'. This cabinet's design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling with it's great rounded edges + molded plastic ridges that travel around the base of radio and separate 'split' louvered grills. The cabinets of these sets are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived. The cases and trim often crack or became distorted due to the heat from the tubes and relatively small size. The beautiful + brightly colored Plaskon cabinet is in good original condition. It has a couple small tight hairline cracks on the left side by grill openings that do not detract from the beauty and rarity of this set. The original grilles only show a mild amount of warp consistent with age. Radio retains the original white knobs, cardboard back, all manufacturers labels all in good condition. AWA Fisk Radiolette 'Empire State' Radio in Jade Green Plaskon
Beautiful AWA Fisk Skyscraper Radio in Marbled Beetle PlasticBeautiful AWA Fisk Skyscraper Radio in
Scarce Deco 1930's Skyscraper FISK Radiolette by AWA 'Empire State' tube radio made of a lustrous jade green plaskon, with beautifully contrasting chrome dial bezel surround. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1934 model's design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. It is believed that the radio was designed to model the companies AWA Building at 45-47 York Street in Sydney, Australia. This example is the earlier and rarer version with the matching color coordinated molded back panel. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1934 model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. This radio is the AUS version of the American made Air King "Skyscraper" designed by Harold Van Doren. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Radio is in good original condition with some of the common defects this model and pastel colors are prone to; some tight hairlines and discoloration in the fragile plaskon case, knobs and back panel. Grill cloth, knobs, chrome trim and dial face are original to the radio. Dial plastic is a correct replacement. Radio measures approximately: 10.5” wide by 11” high by 6.5" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
