Its sleek, rounded lines suggest speed and practicality, hallmarks of streamlined industrial design from those years. FADA produced many radios and televisions over the years, but its Catalin radios, particularly the 'Bullet' are the best-known models. The Catalin cabinet has taken on a beautiful yellow/butterscotch patina. The onyx trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example of a Machine Age FADA Bullet model. Beautiful Art Deco Motorola 'Vertical Grill' Catalin Radio
Beautiful Motorola 52 catalin radio in marbleized sand color with tortoise trim. This model is part of a series of three different Catalin cabinet radios produced by Motorola. Manufactured in 1939 by Motorola Radio also known to collectors as the 'Vertical Grill'. The sand colored catalin is highlighted by swirls of orange, brown and yellow to add depth to the color. The translucent tortoise trim makes for a harmonious color combination. The details in the design are unique with its vertically louvered grill which feathers out from the center to the left + right and hexagonal knobs make for an unusual design and highly sought after radio. The cabinet features streamlined hand incised ridges that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together while adding to the geometric aspect of the radio. The golden dial face is also decorated with deco numerals and the Motorola logo written in script. This is an exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio. The catalin cabinet has a gloss that makes it's beautiful sand, orange, butterscotch, yellow, clear and brown colors glow. This stunning radio is in excellent condition with no cracks, chips or repairs; it does have a super mild tube burn on the top that blends with the coloring of the radio. Great Swirls on this Rare Blue 1946 FADA 700 Radio
Beautiful + Rare Fada model 700 'Cloud' catalin radio in marbleized blue with ivory. The Catalin model 700 'Cloud' was made starting in 1946 by the FADA Radio & Electric Co. This model was one of three new designs for the postwar period. The original blue catalin, which has taken on a beautiful bluish-green and yellow swirl patina, is the rarest color to find. The shiny blueish-green cabinet has intense yellow swirls running throughout that give appearance of depth. Cabinet has no cracks, chips, burn marks, or repairs. It is uncommon to find a blue 700 in as perfect a condition. The ivory pearlized plastic handle and knobs are original to the radio and are also in perfect condition. This set retains its original reverse painted dial plastic, manufacturers sticker + masonite back. Measures approximately: 10.5" wide x 6.5" high x 5.5" deep. Great Early Wrap-Around FADA 136 Catalin Radio
FADA model 136 in translucent marbleized onyx with yellow wrap-around grill, knobs + handle. This Art Deco catalin model made in 1939 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. The model 136 differs from a model L-56 in a few ways; the knobs are gumdrop shape and the dial is different and marked Fada rather than having a water-slide decal. This seldom seen onyx + light yellow catalin example is a beautiful example with great swirls of white, green burnt orange with incredible translucency. The glossy onyx catalin cabinet is in great condition with no chips, cracks or repairs; it does have a mild tube burn that blends nicely with the swirls and color. Radio's cabinet has been cut/polished (by me) back to its original onyx green color from it's oxidized caramel coloring. The marbleized yellow insert grill, knobs and fluted knobs are original and have no damage. The beautiful graphic dial is bright and in great condition. The dial plastic is a correct replacement. Exceedingly Rare Maroon Emerson Little Miracle
This ultra rare maroon Emerson AX-235 'Little-Miracle' Catalin Radio with black trim. Manufactured in 1938 by Emerson Radio + Television this is Emerson's first example of a small Catalin table radio that also features a unique louvered insert grill. The maroon/merlot un-marbleized cabinet with the black tenite/plastic trim makes for a rare + striking color combination and is only one of two know to exist. The two examples that exist vary from a regular Little Miracle in 2 ways; the front edges of radio are sharp(not as rounded) and the knobs are a different style than that of other Little Miracles. The beautiful maroon/merlot cabinet has had a small hole next to right knob that has been professionally repaired years ago, this example has been in my personal collection. Repair can only be detected when looking at inside of cabinet. This models fragile plastic black grill + knobs which are prone to deterioration have been replaced with correct replacements. Stunning + Rare Emerson AX-235 'Little-Miracle' Catalin Radio in highly marbleized lapis lazuli blue. Manufactured in 1938 by Emerson Radio + Television this is Emerson's first example of a small Catalin table radio that also features a unique louvered insert grill. This stunning blue catalin radio is accentuated by the streaks of white that run throughout the cabinet adding depth to a great radio. The small size of this radio combined with the great color and contrasting trim really makes for a stunning Art Deco radio. The beautiful lapis lazuli cabinet has no big cracks, chips or repairs; however it does have one small + tight hairline at the left bottom corner of the grill opening. Most blue Little Miracles I have seen have a lot of damage, this is among the least damaged example I have seen. Beautiful catalin General Television radio model 591 in yellow with contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial face frame. Made by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 591 is the only catalin model made by the company. The cabinet on the catalin GTV has great clear and yellow swirls that add depth to the radio. The gold face features a stunning textured deco pattern, with a red Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. The radio is in original, untouched condition, with a beautiful and natural gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The ivory plaskon trim is complete + original to the radio and has no cracks, chips or repairs. Beautiful original Art Deco Sparton 'Bluebird' cobalt blue mirror model 566 radio designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1936. The radio, known as the 'Bluebird' is a considered to be a great example of Deco Streamline style. The radio features a 14" cobalt blue mirror disc, with contrasting ebony painted ball feet finished with and 3 chromed bands or 'speed lines' dissecting the circular speaker + dial surround. The symmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. Radio is in great condition and is free of chips, or cracks to the original cobalt mirror. Mirror has not been re-silvered and shows some signs of age + use that are accentuated by the studio photos. Mirror retains the original felt affixed to the backside. Wood body (not bottom) and ball feet have have been resprayed in ebony paint. Chrome trim and knobs are original to the radio and show mild pitting, scratches. Radio retains the original back panel with 'Bluebird Model 566' stamped in white and grill cloth is also original and in good condition with only some mild staining and sign of use consistent with age and use.
