Stunning early wrap around grill FADA Catalin Radio

Beautiful FADA 120 in marbleized blue with butterscotch wrap-around grill and knobs. This Art Deco model made in 1938 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. The oxidized bluish-green cabinet is beautifully marbleized with yellow and darker blue/green veins. The model 120 has a different dial face, pointer and comes with gumdrop knobs. The cabinet has no tube burns, fading or chips; however cabinet has a repair limited to the bottom of cabinet only, radio has not been clear-coated. Repair can only been seen when looking closely or by looking on inside of cabinet closely. This in no way deters from the rarity and beauty of this Art Deco radio as they can only been seen upon close inspection. Radio retains the original manufacturers sticker affixed to bottom. Detrola 'Pee-Wee' Radio Model 218 in Mint Green Plaskon

Rare Streamline 1930's George W. Walker Designed Radio

This rare mint green Plaskon Detrola 'Pee-Wee' midget tube radio is one in a series of popular designs that Detrola produced. This midget tube radio is one of the most popular designs that Detrola ever produced. Even though this midget radio was popular in its time and was offered in many color combinations, it has become hard to find in any combination due to its fragile tiny case. This rare example is made of mint green Plaskon/Bakelite with black Tenite knobs and streamlined feet. George W. Walker designed this cabinet for Detrola in 1938. Walker also designed automobiles for the Ford Motor Co., and numerous other products for companies including Admiral Radios, and Willys Trucks. Some of his most recognizable designs that he is credited for are 1955 Thunderbird, and some of the 1949 Ford and the 1950 Lincoln designs. This cabinet's design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling. It has great rounded edges and molded plastic ridges that travel around the radio. Note that the cases of these sets are extremely fragile, and as a result few appear to have survived especially in the colored plaskon. The beautiful green plaskon cabinet is in great original condition and retains a beautiful luster. The cabinet has two stress lines; one is located on the bottom by the screw hole and the other on the top right corner which is barely visible and a common occurrence on these fragile plaskon radios. Radio retains the original black pressed cardboard back in great condition along with the SW/BC band matching black control knob. Catalin Sentinel 284 'Outline Grill' radio in marbleized blue (oxidized to green) with butterscotch trim. Finding an example of this radio in blue is extremely difficult and only a few exist. This radio was made circa 1945 by The Sentinel Radio Company of Evanston, Illinois Known to collectors as 'outline grill' Sentinel, the designers surely drew inspiration from the automotive world. Along with the Catalin speaker grill surround and the slant front frequency indicator, the dial glass allows for easy viewing from above the radio as well, and acts as an additional architectural touch to make an already attractive radio into a true work of art. This set would make this radio a truly beautiful addition to any collection. The radio is just a stunning example of a blue catalin Sentinel model. The glossy Catalin blue cabinet has beautiful yellow and green marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet, it has no tube burns. Catalin cabinet has had a chip repaired on the cabinet by Dan Blake on the rear top left corner/side. Repair can only been seen when looking closely for it or by looking on inside of cabinet. This model is often found damaged due to the shrinking of the cabinet and the way chassis is mounted. Beautiful yellow catalin General Television radio model 591, with beautiful contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial face frame.  Made by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 591 is the only catalin model made by the company.  The cabinet on the catalin GTV has great clear and yellow swirls that add depth to the radio.  The gold face features a stunning textured deco pattern, with a red Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. The radio is in original, untouched condition, with a beautiful and natural gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio.  Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs.  The ivory plaskon trim is complete + original to the radio and has no cracks, chips or repairs. The dial plastic is original with no yellowing. Beautiful + All-Original Exceedingly Rare Espey Catalin Radio in bright plum with marbleized translucent butterscotch trim. This beautifully minimalist designed Deco midget size radio has etched speed-lines on the front wrapping around the left side, flared bottom sides, curved handle and vertical catalin dial surround and dial face. Manufactured by the Espey Manufacturing Company, Inc., New York, N. Y. during the late 1930s early 1940s.The Espey midget radio was only made in two different color combinations, as shown and butterscotch with plum trim. This is the only one in this color combo I have personally seen or owned. Espey catalin radios rarely come to the open market as they are usually traded privately from one collector to the other. Since being discovered in the early 1990s at a Georgia flea market this particular radio has been in four different catalin radio collections over the years. This radio would definitely make for a unique + rare addition to a catalin radio collection. This Espey's radio cabinet has no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs and retains a beautiful natural gloss and translucency. The marbleized + translucent butterscotch dial surround, handle and knobs are original to the radio and free of damage.  Radio retains part of the original cardboard back panel. The gold with plum silk-screened vertical slide-rule dial face is bright and original with no wear. Chassis is original to the radio and in beautiful condition.
