Beautiful Pistachio Marbleized Catalin Large Addison
Addison Catalin radio Model 5 in marbleized Pistachio cabinet with Maroon trim. This is a magnificent + exquisitely crafted stately Art Deco radio. Manufactured in the 1940's by ADDISON INDUSTRIES LIMITED in Toronto, Canada also known to collectors as the "Courthouse" or "Large" Addison. Pistachio catalin was only used by four radio manufacturers of the time and is therefore an uncommon find. The pistachio catalin cabinet has a deep shine, rich color, glow and also has exceptionally, brown, clear, yellow + green tone marbleizing that add dimension to the radio. The radio is just a stunning example of this Addison model. This beautiful set is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The five maroon vertical grill bars are original as are the three matching pinwheel knobs. The radio retains its original brown reverse painted dial glass in excellent condition with only slight signs of age. The grill cloth is original and has no tears or stains + has only a small amount of wear. Water-slide decal is a correct replacement. This is truly a remarkable radio in excellent condition. Rarely Seen Namco Catalin Radio
Rarely seen Namco model 601 Catalin Radio in highly marbleized blue. Manufactured by N.M.Co. NYC, this mid to late 1930's is among the rarest of the catalin radios to be found. This relatively small catalin radio has unique design details such as deep horizontal grooves/louvers that travel around the entire radio and a carved curved handle. This marbleized blue example is absolutely stunning and no other radios compare in design to this model and very few catalin radios are as rare to find. This radio's beautiful highly marbleized blue catalin cabinet is free of tube burns and chips; however it has had some damage repaired as all Namco radios are damaged. When this model is found it is damaged due to the manufacturing process/grooves. The radio retains its original carved blue handle with no cracks, chips or repairs. Detrola 281 Catalin Radio 'Split Grille' in Pistachio with Blue Trim - Ultra Rare
Incredible Pistachio with Blue Detrola Split-Grille
Rare Detrola 281 Catalin 'Split Grille' radio with a marbleized pistachio case and blue (patina'd to green) marbleized trim. Manufactured in 1939 by the Detrola Radio the Split-Grille remains one of the top catalin radios to be found. This cabinet's design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling with it's great rounded edges + ridges that travel around the base of radio and separate louvered grilles. The radio’s beautiful translucent + marbleized pistachio cabinet is highlighted by the blueish-green yellow swirled trim. The contrast in color between the pistachio cabinet and the bluish-green patina of the trim makes this an exceptional example of a rare Detrola radio. The pistachio catalin cabinet has a deep shine, rich color, glow and also has beautiful, brown, clear + yellow marbleizing that adds dimension to the radio. The cabinet is free of any cracks, tube burns or repairs; however it does have a small chip on the right side caused by the metal back panel used on this model (see last photo). This small defect cannot be seen when radio is displayed. The original marbleized split-grilles and fluted knobs have taken on a wonderful bluish-green patina over time and are free of cracks, chips or repairs. Radio has some factory scratches on the left side that do not detract from this rare beauty. Radio retains the original correct chassis, gold textured dial, and the "Detrolascope" antenna/back panel with manufactures sticker. Dial plastic is a correct replacement. This seldom seen rose color Champion Electric 'Venus' tube radio is made of acrylic and is in the form of a globe, supported on four twisted transparent acrylic arms and a square base. Made made by the Champion Electric Corporation Ltd, 1947, in Great Britain. Plastics could be manufactured in almost any shape, widening the scope for modernist designers and it was possible to produce a fashionable rose color and an exciting form. The radio when plugged in lites-up from the inside, which makes the radio glow. This interesting feature along with the use of different materials makes for a highly unusual and rare Art Deco radio. This example in rose or light pink is in great original condition with no cracks, chips, burns and is just a stunning original radio. This1937 radio was made by the International Radio Corp. in Ann Arbor, Michigan The 'Clockette' with its elegant cube design, etched grooves that wrap around and its distinctive 'clock ' style brass dial bezel is unlike any other catalin radio. The tones of green, yellow, clear and brown add depth to an already beautiful radio. This by far is the most marbleized green Kadette I have owned. Great Deco Tom Thumb Catalin radio made in the late 1930s by the Automatic Radio Mfg. Co in a marbleized warm yellow. The 900 series of Tom Thumbs is known to collectors as the 'Deco Model' and is considered to be one of the top catalin radios to be found. The Tom Thumb name is a perfect fit for this radio - as it is one of the smallest radios made of catalin. This model has a design that is unique with the deco grill cutouts, asymmetrical design, and vertical dial scale with center knob. This beautifully translucent marbleized yellow example is all original + in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. This is a great example of an all original early + rare 'Deco' Tom Thumb catalin radio that would make a great addition to any radio or Art Deco collection. Catalin cabinet has no chips, repairs and only the mildest of tube burns (common for this model); however it does have one very small hairline on the bottom that is not visible when displayed. The original matching catalin knobs are original to the radio and have great marbleizing. Radio retains the original blue painted stripes that wrap around the cabinet. Gold grill cloth is original to the radio with only small signs of age. Water-slide decal and dial plastic are correct replacements.
