Highly Marbliezed Catalin General Television Radio
Rare Turquoise Catalin General Television radio 591, with beautiful contrasting ivory handle, grill, knobs, and dial trim. Made by General Television Radio Corp of Chicago, Illinois, model 591 is the only Catalin model made by the company. The cabinet on the Catalin GTV has great turquoise, white + clear swirls that add depth to the radio. The gold face features a stunning textured deco sunburst pattern, with a red Saturn shaped station indicator, beneath which "General Television" appears. This is the rarest of the 3-catalin colors made of this great Art Deco radio and is seldom seen. This original radio has beautiful gloss and is just a superb example of this General Television radio. Radio has been hand cut/polished back to the original turquoise factory color - this is as intense as they get color wise when original. Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or repairs; however it does have mild discoloration/fading of the color on the top which is a common occurrence on this rare radio. Pastel colored radios had the tendency to get more harmed by UV rays then other colors. The ivory polystyrene trim is complete and original to the radio and has no cracks, chips, burns or repairs. Radio has been hand cut/polished back to the original turquoise factory color. Cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, repairs. Emerson BT-245 'Tombstone' Catalin radio in marbleized tyrolean red / oxblood red with ivory trim. The oxblood cabinet has marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet. The oxblood/raspberry red color is brought out with its contrasting ivory louvered grill + knobs. The tombstone design of this radio combined with the great color really makes for a stunning Art Deco radio. The marbleized 'Tyrolean Red' or oxblood cabinet with the contrasting ivory tenite/plastic trim makes for a rare + striking color combination. Beautiful Black plaskon bakelite with Ivory Trim Art Deco Philco Transitone radio model TP-20 from 1939. Considered to be one of the most Art Deco radios manufactured by Philco along with the Philco / Simplex model UA-52P. This great deco radio is made of jet black plaskon cabinet and handle with a 'wrap around' grill and knobs of Ivory colored tenite plastic. There are a few versions of this style but this one has the bakelite handle and extended bakelite back cover. The radio is original, with a beautiful + natural gloss and is just a superb example of this Deco Philco model. Cabinet and matching back panel are free of any cracks, chips, hairlines or repairs. Ivory tenite trim and black handle are original to the radio and also free of any defects or repairs. Radio retains the original 'Philco Transitone' decal on the front of cabinet. Kadette 'Clockette' K27 Catalin Radio in bright highly marbleized red. Radio is absolutely striking + seldom found in this color. The Clockette with its elegant cube design, etched grooves that wrap around and its distinctive 'clock ' style brass dial bezel is unlike any other catalin radio. This radio's stunning marbleized cabinet has vibrant tones of yellow, clear and red. This by far is the most highly marbleized red Kadette I have owned and possibly seen. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a great example of this Kadette 'Clockette' model. The bright red catalin radio cabinet has an incredible gloss. Radio cabinet has no chips, tube burns or repairs; however it does have a barely noticeable 3/4" stress line on the bottom between the two factory drilled vent holes. This small line can not bee seen when radio is displayed. The red catalin knobs are perfect and original to the radio. Radio retains the manufacturers sticker affixed to the bottom. Brass dial bezel and pointer are original to the radio and exhibit some signs of age. Water-slide decal is a correct replacement. Radio has small scratches, scuffs consistent with age + use of set. Black bakelite Colonial 300 radio with chrome trim. This 1933 Colonial Durez Bakelite radio is one of, if not the first "plastic" radios ever produced. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1933 models design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" top design, molded vertical convex ribbing and the chrome trim that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. The jet black cabinet is set off by the chrome trim with its three interlocking grill design, fluted handle and ball feet that are unique to this model. This model is seldom seen in bakelite, more commonly seen is the wood version. The radio is original, with a beautiful + natural gloss and is just a superb example of this Colonial model. The jet black Bakelite cabinet is in incredible original condition with no cracks, chips, burns, or repairs. Radio retains the original black knobs, chrome trim, dial escutcheons and black lacquered back panel with the Colonial decal. Also included is the original 1933 owners manual for the radio. FADA 53 / 5F50 in Emerald Green with Butterscotch grill and knobs. This rarely seen one-owner vibrant emerald green cabinet Fada is beautifully marbleized with yellow and darker green hues. This Art Deco model made in 1938 by FADA Radio + Electric Company has a beautiful design and size. This radio retains the factory gloss, the yellow trim adds contrast and style to this stunning example. Striking American Art Deco Air King Radio Design
Black Air King 'Skyscraper' Model 66 radio with the 'Globe' insert, a true American Art Deco icon. John Sideli in his book "Classic Plastic Radios of the 30's and 40's called it "one of the most important plastic radios ever made". This jet black bakelite Air King Model 66 was designed by Harold Van Doren + John Gordon Rideout for the Air King Products Company of New York in 1933. This early model constructed of Bakelite(an early plastic), has the Globe insert on its waterfall facade. The fragile nature of the Air King radios has made them extremely rare + desirable. Radio is all-original + in fabulous condition with only small scratches consistent with age and use; cabinet has one tight almost invisible hairline on the top from under the bar going to the back edge. Globes and convex glass covering them are original + perfect. Black dial face with Atlas holding the world on his shoulders is is bright and perfect. The three Black bakelite knobs with inset ivory plaskon + the two top bars are original to the radio and perfect. Radio retains the original grill cloth and cardboard bottom panel.
