Halson catalin radio model A5 'Dwarf' manufactured in 1938 by the Halson Radio + Television Corp of Meriden, CT. The Halson is a stunning small radio that is rarely seen. This Halson midget size radio advertisement of "Fits into the palm of your hand" was perfect due to its small size. The Brazilian green onyx catalin cabinet is heavily marbleized with tones of green, yellow, clear and brown that add depth to the luscious catalin cabinet. The small size of this radio combined with the great color makes for a stunning Art Deco radio. This is a rare radio that is seldom available in any color combination or condition. The glossy Brazilian green onyx catalin has beautiful marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet. Catalin cabinet has a repair on the bottom left of grill opening and grill bars. Repair can only been seen when looking closely for them or by looking on inside of cabinet. Ivory plaskon knobs are original to the radio and in perfect condition. Deco Tom Thumb Catalin radio made in the late 1930s by the Automatic Radio Mfg. Co in a marbleized warm butterscotch. The 900 series of Tom Thumbs is known to collectors as the 'Deco Model' and is considered to be one of the top catalin radios to be found. The Tom Thumb name is a perfect fit for this radio - as it is one of the smallest radios made of catalin. This model has a design that is unique with the deco grill cutouts, asymmetrical design, and vertical dial scale with center knob. This beautifully marbleized yellow example is all original + in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Catalin cabinet has no cracks, chips, repairs and only the mildest of tube burns (common for this model). The original matching catalin knobs are original to the radio and have great marbleizing. Seldom Seen Model in a Great Color Combo
Machine Age RCA Victor Radio known as the 'Little Nipper' 9-SX in bright red plaskon with a Beetle Plastic grill. Radio comes with he original box in wonderful condition. This 1939 model is an incredibly well designed streamlined tube radio. This little radio is constructed of 3 separate plaskon Bakelite pieces, first is the red plaskon body, second is the beetle plastic wrap-around deco grill with the great RCA Victor logo engraved vertically on the rounded corner, and third + lastly is the top plaskon stepped trim piece. Even though these midget sized radios were popular in their time and offered in many color combinations, they have become hard to find in any combination due to its fragile plaskon case. This radio is a great example with only small defects common to plaskon radios of the time. Cabinet has no cracks, burns or repair. Cabinet has a chip on the bottom and a small chip where the back would have attached, none of these small defects can be seen when radio is displayed. Beetle plastic grill has a tight hairline on the left curve above the RCA Victor logo. Radio has the original red knobs that are free of any damage. The fragile dial is original and in great condition, radio retains original matching rear red knob. Original box stamped 9SX-4(Red) has great graphics and is in great sturdy condition for its age. Beautiful Plastic Version of the Catalin Art Deco Bendix Radio
Bendix 114 in Swirled Brown Polystyrene Art Deco Bendix Tube Radio made circa 1946. The model 114 shares the same design as the Catalin 526C version made by Bendix and it is an unusual design made of four pieces of Polystyrene. This radio is extremely stylish with the marbleized brown cabinet and contrasting tan front. This swirled brown with white and tan is a color seldom found in plastic radios. This radio has both a unique design and construction. The swirled brown top and sides are molded into one U-shaped piece that fits down over the tan piece which forms the front and base of the radio highlighted with its five streamline horizontal grooves that stretch across the front of the radio. The two rounded corner pieces that bolt onto either side of the dial are a unique feature unlike anything found on any other radio. Radio is in beautiful original condition and retains a beautiful natural gloss that shows off the marbleized color. The Polystyrene sections and trim are in very perfect original condition with no cracks, chips, burns or repairs. The radios incredibly translucent + marbleized pistachio cabinet is highlighted by the blueish-green yellow swirled trim. Rare Pacific 'Air Cruiser' Radio model 100 in original condition. Designed in 1936 by Joseph Price for the Pacific Radio Corporation out of Chicago, Illinois. This among the most streamlined Art Deco radios to be found. The design is a refreshing, futuristic departure from the heavy ornate cabinets of the time. The cabinet is a dynamic downward swooping shape accentuated by five lateral side fins that evoke movement. The set has a great 'sailing ship' dial which only adds to its exciting design making the radio look like it is in motion, almost "cruising" along. Only the 3rd example that I have ever seen and the only one I have owned. The cabinet finish, brown bullet shaped knobs, brass bezel + "Air Cruiser" tag are all original to the set. The beautiful large 'sailing ship" dial face was expertly recreated due to damage caused by the pilot lamps heat. Original dial will be included with the radio.
