Onyx Catalin Emerson model 564 'Slot-Grill'. This is a magnificent Art Deco radio that features a vertical slide rule dial + a series of symmetrical grill cut-outs. Emerson Radio & Phonograph Corp, out of New York, manufactured this small Catalin radio in 1940. The Catalin has a beautiful gloss and original patina. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a stunning example of this Emerson model. This beautiful set is in great condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. The maroon catalin knobs are original to the radio. The radio retains its original reverse painted dial plastic also in excellent condition and the reddish textured grill cloth in excellent condition. Cardboard back panel is still present and in nice condition. This is truly a remarkable radio in excellent condition. Water-slide decal is a replacement. Striking American Art Deco Air King Radio Design
The Air King 'Skyscraper' Model 52 radio with the Egyptian insert is a true American Art Deco icon. John Sideli in his book "Classic Plastic Radios of the 30's and 40's" called it "one of the most important plastic radios ever made". This ivory plaskon with black trim Air King Model 52 was designed by Harold Van Doren + John Gordon Rideout for the Air King Products Company of New York in 1933. This early model radio constructed of plaskon(an early plastic ), has the rarer Egyptian insert on its waterfall facade and the large deco 'AK" tuning knob. The fragile nature of the Air King radios has made them extremely rare + desirable. Radio is all-original and in fabulous condition with only a few small hairlines and small scratches consistent with manufacturing process, age and use. The Deco black + silver Egyptian insert is original and in great condition with only slight signs of age. The three black bakelite knobs + the two ivory top bars are original to the radio and perfect. Radio retains the original grill cloth and metal bottom panel. Speaker is not installed in radio, as it is safer to display the Air King without the heavy speaker hanging from top of cabinet. Fada 5F60 Catalin radio in faintly marbleized yellow with a highly marbleized blue insert grill. This rare prewar 1936/37 is one of the earliest catalin radio models made and has a simple and distinct cabinet design. This yellow + blue example is all-original and in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. The blue grill which has taken on a rich blueish-green patina has intense yellow marbleizing that gives it depth. This model has come to be known to collectors as the 'Baby Fada' because of its small size. Rare Catalin Motorola Model 50XC-2 "Circle-Grill" in highly marbleized turquoise with translucent yellow catalin trim. Manufactured in 1940 by Motorola Radio also known to collectors as the "Circle Grill" is a magnificent, exquisitely crafted Art Deco radio. This Motorola design is considered one of the most appealing sets of its time beautifully designed in the Art Deco Style. The details are unique with its round catalin speaker bezel, scalloped handle, and hexagonal knobs. The cabinet features streamlined ridges that stretch around the case bringing all the elements together. The golden dial face is also decorated with deco numerals and sunburst designs that emanate from a red plastic dial pointer with the letter "M" cast in to it. Rare export version Sparton 457X radio designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1936. The radio, known as the 'Euro-sled' is a considered to be one of the best examples of Deco Streamline style. The 'European' version differs from the 'US' model with three distinctive features, circular art deco dial face, center tuning knob and a different chassis configuration. The graphic deco circular dial face features the names of the most important European cities of the time. The radio features cobalt blue mirrors on the front, top and left side, with contrasting ebony crystalline finish and 5 chromed bands or "speed lines". The asymmetric, geometric shapes and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. This is a prime example of a highly sought rare version art deco radio that is matched by no other manufacturer in its flair and presence. Radio is in great all-original condition and is free of chips, or cracks to the original blue mirrors. Mirrors are original + look beautiful, with only minor surface scratches and oxidation consistent with age + use. This Art Deco model with its beautiful use of different toned veneer is highlighted by the graceful curved wood formed case. The E. Ingraham Company of Bristol, Connecticut made the cabinet for Emerson. Radio has the original finish with the water-slide decal still present. The original finish has a lustre to it and a beautiful rich color with wear/imperfections/dings in the wood consistent with age + use. The richness of the all-original veneers used by Ingraham have a remarkable of depth of color that is just stunning. The radio retains the original metal "Ingraham" tag on the bottom and the original cardboard back panel. The jet-black Bakelite knobs and the gold dial are original and in great condition. Radio has the original dial plastic that is in great condition with only a little yellowing. This small mini-tombstone radio measures approximately: 9." Wide by 11" High by 6" Deep. The chassis of this radio seems complete. This set is sold "as-is + untested" and as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.

Beautiful AWA Fisk Empire Skyscraper Radio
AWA "Empire State" Skyscraper FISK Radiolette radio made of black Bakelite, with beautifully contrasting chrome dial bezel surround. Strong Art Deco elements are at the very heart of this 1934 models design, including, stepped "Skyscraper" design, molded vertical and horizontal rounded cross-ribbing that heightens the cabinet's exceptional look. Amalgamated Wireless Australia (A.W.A.) produced a number of Radiolette models over the years in a variety of sizes, designs, and materials. But the one that every radio collector wants is the 1934 model that is officially named "The Fisk". Collectors for obvious architectural reasons also refer to this model as “The Skyscraper” or “Empire State”, and it is reputedly the first Bakelite case radio ever produced in Australia. This radio is the AUS version of the American made Air King "Skyscraper" designed by Harold Van Doren. Interesting features on this radio include listings of the Australian and New Zealand radio station call letters around the frequency selector dial, plus a distant and local ("D/L") switch at the rear of the chassis. Radio is in wonderful original condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs to the cabinet or knobs. Grill cloth, knobs, chrome trim and dial face are original to the radio. Dial Plastic is a correct replacement. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete.
