Catalin Emerson BM-258 Radio known as the "Big Miracle" in rich butterscotch yellow with black trim. Made by Emerson Radio + Television in 1938 the Big Miracle is a slightly larger version of the Little Miracle. The cabinet is a beautiful butterscotch yellow with faint marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet. The rich deep color is brought out even more with its contrasting black louvered grill + knobs. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a great example of this Emerson "Big Miracle" model. The cabinet is in perfect condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns, or repairs. This models fragile black plastic grill + knobs which, are prone to deterioration, are original + good condition showing some mild warp and wear on the grill. Catalin Sentinel 284 "Wavy Grill" radio in marbleized sand with butterscotch trim. The glossy sand colored catalin cabinet has beautiful yellow and brown marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet. This radio was made circa 1945 by The Sentinel Radio Company of Evanston, Illinois Known to collectors as "Wavy Grill" Sentinel, the designers surely drew inspiration from the automotive world. Along with the insert Catalin speaker grill and the slant front frequency indicator, the dial glass allows for easy viewing from above the radio as well, and acts as an additional architectural touch to make an already attractive radio into a true work of art. Early Rare Bakelite Kadette H Radio in Great Condition
Stunning Kadette Art Deco, Beetle Plaskon, tube radio model H also known by collectors as the "Gothic" model. This 1931 radio was made by the International Radio Corp. in Ann Arbor, Michigan and is one of the first mass produced plastic Bakelite radios. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a stunning example of this Kadette model. Its heavy green and orange marbleizing highlights this set. This extremely rare beauty is in excellent condition with no cracks, tube burns or repairs and all trim pieces are original. It does have one shall chip at the on/off toggle switch caused by toggling the switch a common issue with this model. The radio still retains the original matching molded beetle back, which has the common minor stress hairline cracks and chips. These slight issues in no way detract form the beauty and rarity of this radio, as they cannot be seen from the front of the radio. Radio has the original matching Beetle Plastic flower knobs and gld toned metal dial scales all in great condition. Art Deco Cobalt Blue Sparton 409GL Radio by W.D. Teague
Sparton radio model 409-GL with cobalt blue mirror. Designed by Walter Dorwin Teague for the Sparks-Worthington Company from Jackson, Michigan in 1938. The small radio, known as the "7-Sided" is a great example of geometric Art Deco design. The radio features a beveled cobalt blue mirror with contrasting ebony lacquer ribbed feet and reverse silk-screened Deco dial numerals. The symmetrical, geometric shape and accent designs are distinctively art deco in appearance. This is a prime example of a highly sought after Art Deco radio that is matched by no other manufacturer in its flair and presence. Radio is in great all original condition and is free of chips and cracks to the original 2 pieces of mirror. Mirror has not been re-silvered and therefore retains the original grey flock on backside of mirror. Mirrors have some wear consistent with age + use that is accentuated by the flash photographs. Catalin Addison Model 5 radio in incredibly marbleized dark green/black case and butterscotch trim. This is a magnificent and exquisitely crafted stately Art Deco radio. Manufactured in the 1940's by ADDISON INDUSTRIES LIMITED in Toronto, Canada also known to collectors as the "Courthouse" or "Large" Addison. The catalin has a deep shine, rich color, glow and also has exceptionally striking yellow marbleizing that add dimension to the radio. The radio is in original, untouched condition, and is just a stunning example of this Addison model. This beautiful set is in great condition with no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The five butterscotch vertical grill bars are original as are the three pinwheel knobs. The radio retains its original reverse painted dial glass also in excellent condition. Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio in Brown Bakelite + Ivory
Unique Circular Design French Radialva "Super-Boum"
Seldom seen Radialva "Super-Boum" Radio in brown Bakelite with contrasting Ivory Tenite grill + knobs. The "Super Boum" is a unique round shaped radio manufactured by Radialva in France circa 1940's. It is one of the most prized Bakelite radios from the French vintage radio market that is rarely available in the States. The design was inspired by the British "Ekco" radio in the forties, and the radio's high price and radical design with its bulls-eye grill was not well received by the public. Less than 2,000 Super Boum's were sold making this an extremely rare find. The unique styling and great condition would make this radio a truly beautiful and unique addition to any radio collection. This is an interesting design that uses two similar, equal sized pieces of Bakelite that come together in the center, secured by plastic screws. The chassis is inserted in the center and then enclosed by two pieces of Bakelite, like a suitcase. This French made Radialva radio with its circular design, clam-shell(interlocking) cabinet design + concentric circle grill is unlike any other radios of the time that makes for an absolutely stunning radio. The original half circle gold colored plastic dial face with names of cities around Europe is in good condition. This particular example is a stunning radio in excellent original condition with no cracks, chips, burns, or repairs to the cabinet or trim. The brown Bakelite cabinet has a wonderful natural gloss to it. This "Super Boum" has been well taken care of and only has some small scratches/marks consistent with light use. Tom Thumb Catalin radio made in the late 1930s by the Automatic Radio Mfg. Co. The model 955 is known to collectors as the "Oval-Dial" or "Non-Deco". The Tom Thumb name is a perfect fit for this radio - as it is one of the smallest radios made of catalin. This model has a design that is unique with attached Catalin feet, an oval-shaped dial face, Deco grill cutouts, and vertically positioned knobs. This faintly marbleized yellow example is all original + in great condition with a beautiful glossy finish. Catalin Cabinet, knobs and feet have no cracks, chips, tube burns or repairs. The two perfect catalin feet have the original blue painted stripes. Radio retains the original gold manufacturers label affixed to the original back panel. Remler "Scottie" 40 Radio w/ Blue Mirror Case - Rare
Seldom Seen Remler Bakelite Radio w/ Original Blue Glass Case
Fantastic Remler model 40 "Scottie" with factory blue mirror case. This is truly a rare find + a stunning looking Deco radio. The mirror case was an add-on available at Remler in 1936 at a cost of $20.00 - see original advertisement. Remler model 40 "Scottie" radio just slid into the mirror case to transform an already great looking Bakelite radio into a luxurious mirrored radio. Very few cases seem to have been sold due to cost or have survived over time as they are rarely found. Made in San Francisco, California, Remler radios were often characterized by their Deco designs in black and/or ivory with their distinctive Scotty dog logo. The blue mirror glass case is in wonderful original condition with no cracks or chips to the cobalt glass. Mirrors are original and look beautiful, with only minor scratches and oxidation consistent with age + use. The accent chrome trim on the case's edges has some minor wear. Case retains original tan felt on bottom. The accompanying model 40 "Scottie" radio has a black Bakelite body + an inset ivory Plaskon Art Deco grille and knobs. The radio retains a beautiful luster to the cabinet + trim and has only one hairline on the bottom screw hole. Scotty dog still has his often broken tail. Radio has original knobs, gold grill cloth and matching black Bakelite back panel all in great condition. Detrola 219 Radio "Super Pee-Wee" in Beetle Plastic + Red
Rare Streamline 1930's George W. Walker Designed Radio
This rare all beetle plastic with red Detrola "Super Pee-Wee" model 219 midget tube radio is one in a series of popular designs that Detrola produced. Even though the line of midget radios produced by Detrola was popular in its time and was offered in many color combinations, it has become hard to find in any combination due to its fragile cases. This example is made of beautiful marbleized Beetle Plastic cabinet and grill highlighted with red tenite knobs. This cabinet’s design is a beautiful example of Machine Age styling. It has great rounded edges and applied Bakelite "wrap around" grill that travels around the radio. George W. Walker designed this cabinet for Detrola in 1938. Walker also designed automobiles for the Ford Motor Co., and numerous other products for companies including Admiral Radios, and Willys Trucks. Radio is in great original condition + has a beautiful luster to the cabinet and all original trim. This set is highlighted by its heavy green + orange marbleizing. Cabinet + trim are free of any cracks, chips or repairs. Dial knob has the usual slight warp. Cabinet has one hardly discernible 1/8" line on the bottom rear screw hole that is common to plaskon radios of the time. Radio retains the original black pressed cardboard back in good condition along with the original red SW/BC band control knob. Striking American Art Deco Air King Radio Design
The Air King "Skyscraper" Model 66 radio with the "Globe" insert is a true American Art Deco icon. John Sideli in his book "Classic Plastic Radios of the 30's and 40's" called it "one of the most important plastic radios ever made". This ivory plaskon Air King Model 66 was designed by Harold Van Doren + John Gordon Rideout for the Air King Products Company of New York in 1933. This early model constructed of Plaskon(an early plastic ), has Globe insert on its waterfall facade. The fragile nature of the Air King radios has made them extremely rare + desirable. Radio is all-original + in fabulous condition with only small scratches consistent with age and use. Globes and convex glass covering them are original + perfect. Black dial face with Atlas holding the world on his shoulders is is bright and perfect. Incredibly Marbleized Oxblood with Butterscotch Trim "Wavy Grill" Sentinel
Catalin Sentinel 284 "Wavy Grill" radio in oxblood red with butterscotch trim. This radio was made circa 1945 by The Sentinel Radio Company of Evanston, Illinois Known to collectors as "Wavy Grill" Sentinel, the designers surely drew inspiration from the automotive world. Along with the insert Catalin speaker grill and the slant front frequency indicator, the dial glass allows for easy viewing from above the radio as well, and acts as an additional architectural touch to make an already attractive radio into a true work of art. This set would make this radio a truly beautiful addition to any collection. The radio is just a stunning example of this Catalin Sentinel model. The glossy Catalin oxblood red cabinet has beautiful marbleizing that really adds depth to the cabinet + is in excellent condition with no cracks, tube burns or repairs. The Butterscotch Catalin grill and knobs are original and in great condition with no cracks, chips, burns or repairs. Radio has a small chip on the interior back panel retaining screw hole inside cabinet that is not noticeable when the radio is displayed as it is inside hidden by the back panel. The grill cloth + back panel are original to the radio. The dial glass is a correct replacement. This radio measures approximately: 11" wide by 7" high by 6.25" deep. This set is sold "as-is + untested", the chassis seems complete. Set is being sold as a "non-working" vintage electronic device that should be gone over by a qualified technician.
