Sentinel Radio Corporation manufactured four models of Catalin radios during the late 30's and 40's. The 177U, 195U "Push Button" and the 284NI "Wavy Grill" and the 284NB "Outline Grill". These models were available in a few color combinations.

The bluish-green patina on this radio is stunning with it's strong veins of yellow with tones of blue and green running through it that makes this an incredible example of a rare radio. This Sentinel model was made circa 1945 by The Sentinel Radio Company of Evanston, Illinois Known to collectors as 'Wavy Grille' Sentinel, the designers surely drew inspiration from the automotive world. Along with the insert Catalin speaker grill and the slant front frequency indicator, the dial glass allows for easy viewing from above the radio as well, and acts as an additional architectural touch to make an already attractive radio into a true work of art. This particular example was owned by important catalin collector Mark Woolley, sold at Bonhams in 2007 along with the rest of his collection and has only been in one collection since.
