Incredibly Rare Symphony 'Split-Grille' Catalin Radio
Ref: RA776
Rare Symphony Catalin Radio 'Split Grille' with a butterscotch case and black/dark green marbleized trim. Manufactured in 1938/1939 by the Record-O-Vox Inc. the Symphony remains one of the top catalin radios to be found. The radios beautiful translucent + marbleized yellow cabinet is highlighted by the dark green highly yellow swirled trim which makes this an exceptional example of a rare Symphony radio.
This color Symphony is one of the 4 color combinations manufactured. Finding a Symphony such as this one is extremely difficult and this might be one of your only chance at acquiring an example. This color combo has a wonderful vibrancy due to the contrast of the trim and cabinet. This radio would make for an exceptional addition to any collection.
The all-original radio cabinet and trim has only been lightly polished and looks awesome. The butterscotch catalin cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips, tube burns or repairs. The marbleized black catalin grilles, handle + knobs are factory original and without damage. Radio retains the original metal embossed name tag, manufactures sticker, deco embossed foil dial + pointer. The dial plastic is a correct replacement. Please note that the chassis on this example was at one point switched, original dial and pointer were kept with the radio. Did the radio stop functioning and a repair person just put a similar fitting chassis in....this will remain a mystery. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with age + careful use.
