Symphony Catalin Radio 'Split-Grille' in Butterscotch + Tortoise
Incredible Rare Symphony 'Split-Grille' Catalin Radio
Ref: RA574
Beautiful and Rare Symphony Catalin 'Split Grill' radio with a butterscotch cabinet and translucent marbleized tortoise trim. Manufactured in 1938/1939 by the Record-O-Vox Inc., the Symphony remains one of the top catalin radios to be found. The radio’s beautiful translucent + marbleized butterscotch cabinet is highlighted by the tortoise swirled trim which makes this an exceptional example of a rare Symphony radio. This color combo has a wonderful vibrance due to the translucency of the trim and cabinet. This radio would make for an incredible addition to any collection. This color Symphony is one of the 4 color combinations manufactured. Finding an original Symphony such as this one is extremely difficult and this might be your only chance at acquiring an example.
The butterscotch catalin cabinet is in excellent condition with no chips, tube burns or repairs; however it does have a tight hairline running from the grill opening to the knob, as seen in photos. The translucent and swirled tortoise catalin grills, handle + knobs are complete and factory original to the radio. Radio retains the original chassis, deco dial, pointer and the ‘Catalin Corporation’ manufacturers oval ink stamp on the inside bottom of case. The dial plastic and often missing Symphony label are replacements. Radio has been well taken care of and only shows some fine scratches consistent with age + careful use.
